Born to Canadian parents of Caribbean descent, Aisha is a Toronto-based actor and filmmaker passionate about bringing stories of the underrepresented to the forefront of our social consciousness.
Aisha won a Canadian Screen Award for Best Performance in a Web Program or Series for her work on comedy series THE DROP where she also received a nomination for Best Direction. THE DROP led the digital category with five nominations. The Canadian Screen Awards mark the highest level of achievement in the Canadian Film & TV industry. Aisha co-created, wrote, directed, and starred in (alongside Dani Pagliarello) the comedy series THE DROP, which premiered on Narcity Canada in 2023.
Aisha’s debut feature film SEAHORSE is a 2022 Telefilm Talent to Watch Fund recipient and currently in post production. Aisha wrote directed and starred opposite Joseph Marcell, most notably known for playing Geoffrey Butler in the NBC sitcom THE FRESH PRINCE OF BEL-AIR. Upon completion, Aisha will be the first Black Canadian woman to write direct and star in a Canadian feature film.
In 2023 Aisha was named a ‘Screenwriter to Watch’ by the Austin Film Festival presented by MovieMaker Magazine. Her short film ALEX (2022) which she wrote, directed, and starred in premiered at HollyShorts and was an Official Selection at the Austin Film Festival. ALEX was named a ‘Vimeo Staff Pick’ upon its digital release in 2023.
As an actor, recent film and TV appearances include REALLY HAPPY SOMEDAY (TIFF ‘24), Rabbit Hole (Paramount+), and Slo Pitch (IFC/OutTV). Aisha is an alum of the 2022 WBD Access X Canadian Academy Writers Program, where she is developing the limited series SALLY with Warner Brothers Canada.
Aisha has written, produced and starred in the short films ACCIDENTALS (2017) and SHOEGAZER (2022, 554K views on Omeleto) which have screened internationally and celebrated critical acclaim.
